Power to the people!

London, 22 October 2016

Today, the first power from the 20 MW solar array at Bokhol in Northern Senegal was exported to the Senegal national electricity distribution system.

The plant was largely financed by Green Africa Power, a PIDG facility, funded by the UK and Norwegian governments. It is estimated that at full production, which is expected next month, some 160,000 people could benefit from the power generated.

It is the first independent solar power generation plant in West Africa.
